I know you usually skip past this part but please read, it's really important ......

These are just a few informal guidelines which will help all of us get the best out of the MYA Forum. Please have a read through them before making a post.

Topic hijacking
This is considered very bad form. If you are inspired by a topic which raises a non-related question in your mind, please create a new topic rather than hijacking an existing one. An example might be ...

Hi, I've just bought an xyz yacht. Can anyone tell me the best sails to use?

"I had an XYZ but preferred the ABC - does anyone know if you can still get them?"

Should have gone to Specsavers posts
Unless you can offer first-hand, logical and reasoned judgement, please avoid telling someone that, in your opinion they have bought the wrong kit/equipment etc. Nobody likes to be told that, even if they have! An example:-

I've just spent the mortgage money on a brand new XYZ radio and can't find how to adjust end point adjustment, can anyone help?

Should have bought ABC mate!

Junk posts
Please avoid making inappropriate posts which detract from the topic under discussion. Imagine how frustrating in can be for someone that genuinely and urgently needs a question answered. Here's an example:-

I've just fitting out my new XYZ model and hoping to do the maiden Sail tomorrow. However, I'm really concerned about the waterline and it seems way-off in the instructions. Can anyone tell me what it should be?

You wanna go buy a new waterline mate :) :) :) :) :)

Another example of Junk posts are one which contain only smilies (otherwise known as emotes). They add nothing and just serve to annoy those who are trying to follow the thread. There are of course boards where this is not so much of an issue like The boat House but even so adding one emote to show, for instance, that it's a tongue in cheek remark is valuable but using two adds nothing! Please avoid!

Trade members are very welcome but please note that unsolicited advertising is not permitted. Any posts you make promoting your products and services will be removed immediately unless prior permission has been obtained. Thank you.
