Re: IOM Veteran National Championship - Results

I can do better than that. I am on the IOM ranking results for day 2 at Lincoln and not only did I not attend I did not even enter :) That is more of a worry. Those who are entered but dont turn up need to be included as they may just be stuck in traffic. If its a ranking and day two is a different...

Re: Observing and Control Area

David, Agree with you on most of the points. The SSI's clearly state that the control area should be defined at the initial skippers briefing, it may be that there is no control area defined but not defining this can create a number of issues that can come back to "bite" the race team. sighting of m...

Re: Taking a penalty Rule E4.3

Unfortunately, the rule makers have interpreted that the penalty turns should continue until the significant advantage has been removed. The rule whilst clear in its wording is being interpreted differently; you can understand why, as a boat could quite easily come into a mark, cause carnage and the...

Re: MYA affiliation

Hi Ian, For clarification, the cllubs are the members of the MYA; therefore you will be affiliated through which ever club you pay your MYA membership through. For a club to be affiliated, it has to have a minimum of 6 affiliated members. It would be interesting to know why you wish to create anothe...

Re: Penalty turn required?

If you are concentrating on your boat, there is little chance that you will not know when your boat has hit the mark or been in danger of hitting it. If you think you have hit it, then the decent thing is to do a turn. If you are not sure, but someone else calls it, then the decent thing is to do a ...

Re: preferred transmitter options to suit IOM sailing

Hi Tony, What you are perhaps gathering is that just as in flying, the choices are many and the decision very personal. If i was asked, I would suggest Futaba, but thats because its what i use, anything else feels odd and i have plenty of expensive receivers to use. Range/Function etc are not really...

Re: Weed Issues

On the plus side a metre of weed cushioned my IOM ASBO that recently sank at the Cotswold Model Yacht Club lake. The downside is that its formed a 1m deep layer at the bottom of our lake and thats in winter. The CSC dye the lake in spring and summer but we have to find a way to control this weed. H...
